And you thought a New Year's hangover hurt. How about the worst three-day start for the S&P in eight years? How about the worst three-day start for the NASDAQ since 2000? How about the worst three-day start for the Dow since 1932? The superlatives of pain could go on and on, but on Fast Money, past is prologue and the future is where we look to make money. So let's begin. Couple opportunities to keep on your Fast Money radar screens. The first and biggest healthcare conference begins on Monday in beautiful San Francisco. Biotech, and to an even larger extent, Big Pharma, have both been overlooked as financials have hemorrhaged billions in market cap and hyper-growth tech darlings Google and RIMM have begun to rollover. But drug and healthcare names might warrant a closer look as the market looks to be headed for a rocky ride and the politicos in Washington begin to make noise in an election year. We shall see. We shall also see how you decided to spend your hard-earned cash last month when retail sales figures are released. Both high- and low-end retailers have been getting crushed on fears of an economic slowdown. And finally – my favorite time of year: the symbolic kickoff of earnings season. Money season is just around the corner, and it all begins on Wednesday when Alcoa reports quarterly results. The real heavy earnings news won't begin until later in the month, but the Alcoa results and those of a few other companies should whet our appetite for trading. I want to leave you on a quick programming note. On January 15th, the fastest-growing show in cable news (thanks to you, that would be Fast Money) will celebrate its one year anniversary. 365 days of the most unabashed celebration of capitalism and wealth, brought to you live, in what promises to be an unforgettable broadcast. Not since man stepped on the moon has nation been so captivated by televised event!!! Remember, an open market is one in which you can make money, and we will try to do that all next week. I hope you join us. .
