LA's underused mass transit system has seen a 15% jump in ridership because of high gas prices -- this in a town where people drive to go across the street! In previous years, companies including Wells Fargo and AIG have made it through flood season with profits instead of payouts. What does the flooding mean for the bottom line of these insurers? Will the claims put them under water?

THE ICAHN EFFECT: Activist investor Carl Icahn is at it again. He owns 4.3% of Biogen Idec, and has put up a slate of 3 directors for the board of 12. Last October, Icahn convinced the biotech firm to put itself up for sale, and the stock price spiked, but no pharma companies bid on Biogen and shares fell. Is Biogen Idec done with Icahn's recommendations? Mary Thompson is live at the annual shareholder meeting for the results of the vote. HOMEBUILDER HOE-DOWN: Bank of America is hosting a homebuilders conference in New York City with the some of the smartest real estate moguls in attendance. Diana Olick talks to Toll Brothers and Pulte Homes as the nation awaits a housing turnaround. POLITICS OF ENERGY: Rising fuel costs can't be ignored by consumers or the Presidential candidates. To drill or not to drill offshore? It's the hottest debate of the week, with both Obama and McCain speaking out. Which plan will win over voters? That's the million dollar question as both candidates look for issues that will lead them to a victory on Election Day. MODERN DAY WILDCATTING: As oil prices continue to stay at record levels, smaller companies are hitting gold, black gold. Wildcatters are back and they are doing better than ever.
