Arguably no corporate earnings season has garnered such close attention as the one that rolls into full swing this week. Big investors will be poring over the numbers and parsing every syllable of CEO and analyst commentary. Individual investors will study the reports of companies they own, or are interested in, for clues on whether to buy, sell or hold. Generally speaking, forecasters figure the headline numbers will be excellent. And why shouldn't they be? A year ago the economy was in the pits. Now it's coming back. So the comparisons should be lay-ups. But that's why knowing what's beneath the numbers is so important this time around. CNBC is the place for depth on everything earnings-related.
