HUMBLED HIGH-END, SIGN OF A RETAIL BOTTOM: Luxury is the "latest to go and has the farthest to fall" according to Banc of America's retail analyst who just downgraded the supposedly recession-proof high-end Tiffany's, Saks and Sotheby's. With retail stocks the first to reflect the downward spiral of this consumer slowdown (and short interest in Tiffany's as high as 8%), does this new high-end pessimism indicate that a bottom has been reached? If so, the high-end is also the first to comeback. Margaret looks for clues in Tiffany's earnings report to see whether there is such a thing as recession-proof retail.
